If you want a hardtop, just get a frs/brz/86 or 350/370z. It would take a lot more than just a $2500 hardtop to get a Miata close to the same league as any of those cars. This high demand only exists in the US. In my corner of Europe hardtops go for 400-500 eur, sometimes a bit more if it's in pristine condition.
